“Modular Movement” is a geometric installation that integrates motion reactive generative visuals created by Gistovit with projection mapping onto geometric structures designed and built by Paperwave. Inspired by the flexibility and precision of origami, “Modular Movement” transforms space through a projection structure that can be deployed in multiple configurations, allowing it to change with each activation. Joining elements of the structure are designed in Blender and 3D printed, allowing for a variety of construction options based on the classic platonic solids such as the tetrahedron and icosahedron The installation harnesses the power of Resolume for precise projection mapping onto the modular structure that can be dynamically remapped across the whole structure or individual faces. This enables seamless integration of visuals onto the physical surfaces, enhancing the viewer´s perception of depth and movement. Touch Designer is employed to generate motion-reactive visuals that respond in real-time to the viewers in the space. This generative network creates crystalline images that pulse and shift subtly while responding to the amount of motion and viewers in the room. We hope you enjoy your time spacing out to the mesmerizing layers of light and motion in the spikey world we have created.
We're grateful to collaborate and produce on the shared, stolen, unceded, ancestral and traditional territories of Penelakut, Lamalcha, Hwitslum and other Hul’qumi’num speaking peoples, as well as the ceded territories of Tsawwassen First Nation, on what is now known as Galiano Island, British Columbia. We recognize the complex impacts that hosting settlers and non-settlers has on the Indigenous land and peoples of this area, and we aim to be responsible and accountable for these impacts and our footprint—whether cultural, environmental or social.
We acknowledge the generous support of our partners and funders:
