Fragments of a reimagined, digitized body assemble themselves to coexist for fleeting moments in the video installation do I need to reconfigure this? Using pieces of past film works created over the last three years, the history and evolution of a person’s genderqueer self-determination and appearance is traced through non-linear time. Shown on stacked retro TV screens, organs and limbs move, expand, balance and fold together. To create the movement of these appendages, personalized motion capture data of a non-binary dance artist’s movement is reunited with morphed ribcages and lungs. Together they establish a tender depiction of a queered body in its most genuine state of existence.
Submerged Sonic Technology invites you to create immersive visuals and sound in real time. From the custom controller, explore algorithmic visuals and arrange and modulate live synthesized audio, combined with real field recordings of ocean animals including some from the nearby Saturna Island. Inspired by the deep blue ocean around us, this installation is a place for exploration, experimentation, and even dance!
